Getting Started with your new RF Explorer

Important: You are strongly suggested to upgrade the internal firmware to the latest version for the best possible performance.

Check the download page to get the right firmware for your unit. Please also note that although the RF Explorer 2.4G Model does include a signal generator function, the "RF Explorer Signal Generator Firmware" is for standalone Signal Generator devices only; you will need to download the "RF Explorer Spectrum Analyzer Firmware".

Please make sure that you are not close to any strong RF fields when you first plug in the antenna to the SMA connector. As soon as you do this, your device will immediately start receiving RF signals, even if it is not turned on yet. Some models of RF Explorer are designed to handle only moderate RF energy, and being exposed to stronger fields can damage the equipment. You can read this article for more details on how to protect your device from strong RF fields

Your device will need to be charged before you first use it. RF Explorers typically come with a half charge, as this helps to extend the battery life while the device is in the store/being shipped. Never leave your device unattended while it is charging. Once you plug your device into the USB port it will automatically switch on, however in order for it to begin charging, you need to manually switch the battery power on.
