Many people have difficulties sleeping at night; some suffer from headaches, some from insomnia, while others simply feel restless and will toss and turn for hours before they fall asleep. One possible reason for this may be that electronic devices in your house are emitting EMF (electromagnetic field) radiation. Since our brains and nervous systems run on electrical impulses, this kind of EMF radiation can interfere with their normal functions and thus prevent a regular sleep cycle.
Below is a brief checklist that you can use to avoid this and sleep better at night:
- Ensure that RF (radio frequency) sources such as WiFi modems, cordless/cellular phones and Bluetooth devices like printers are turned off over night.
- EMF sources such as lamps or radios should be as far away from your bed as possible.
- Please note that some electronics and accessories, such as night lights, can generate EMF even when they are switched off as long as they remain plugged into an outlet. In order to avoid harmful radiation, make sure that devices such as these are left unplugged while you sleep.
- Many of us like to charge our phones overnight so that the battery is at full power when we wake up. If this is the case, try to leave your phone charging on a different floor than the one where you sleep. If you live in an apartment and only have one floor, then leaving it in a different room should be sufficient.
In some cases, we cannot control the amount of EMF radiation we are exposed to because they are coming from external sources, such as a cell tower near your house, WiFi signals from a neighbour’s modem, or Smart Meters. In this case, we recommend using one of our many personal protection items which are specially designed to block EMF from entering our bodies. Some of these include custom made bedsheets and pillow cases lined with silver, which effectively protect you from harmful radiation while you sleep.
