TriField EMF Meter TF2

The TriField TF2 is a handheld 3-in-1 EMF meter that reads AC magnetic fields (in milligauss), AC electric fields (in V/m) and RF/microwave power density from 20 MHz to 6 GHz (in mW/m²). It suits homeowners, renters and home inspectors who want actual numbers for everyday sources such as house wiring, appliances, Wi-Fi routers, cell phones and smart meters, using one meter instead of three.

Should I use Standard or Weighted mode?

Use both if you can. Standard shows the field strength the same way at every frequency from 40 Hz to 100 kHz. Weighted reads 60 Hz identically but gives more weight to higher-frequency content such as harmonics from electronics and motors. A big gap between the two readings tells you higher frequencies are present.

Does the TF2 measure 5G?

It measures 5G in the bands below 6 GHz, which phones and home equipment use today, because its RF mode covers 20 MHz to 6 GHz. It does not measure the millimetre-wave bands above 24 GHz.

Which number should I read for Wi-Fi, phones and smart meters?

Read the small peak number in the upper left of the display. These devices send data in short bursts. Smart meters may transmit about once a minute, while Wi-Fi and phones in use send several bursts a second. The peak number catches those bursts, and the large average reading can miss them.

Is a battery included, and how long does it last?

Yes. The TF2 ships with a 9V alkaline battery already installed. Pull the plastic tab before first use. A battery lasts more than 20 hours with the backlight off, or more than 12 hours with it on.
